今回のテーマは go out of your way ( go out of one’s way ）です。ネガティブの意味で使うこともあるのでご紹介していきます。
go out of your way
① go out of your way の意味
・「（人のために）わざわざ〜する」
・make a special effort or go beyond what is expected in order to do something
go out of one’s way を直訳すると「道から外れて進む」。不良になるみたいですけど違います。笑
道中に困っている人がいたら、道から外れて助けに行くイメージです。
相手のために必要以上に何かをしてあげることなので→「わざわざ〜する」という意味になります。
ポジティブな使い方だけでなく、ネガティブな意味で使うこともありますので次の例文でご紹介します。

・You really went out of your way to make this event a success
このイベントを成功させるためにあなたはこの上ない努力をしてくれた。.
・You don’t have to go out of your way to come to see me while I’m in the hospital.
わざわざ病院まで見舞いに来てくれなくてもいいですよ。
・Look at the decorations for the party. You’ve gone out of your way.
パーティーの飾り付けすごいね。 こんなにもやってくれて！
・I can sleep on the floor so don’t go out of your way.
床で寝るから大丈夫、無理しないで。
・Thank you so much. You didn’t have to go out of your way to do that.
どうもありがとうございました。本当に助かりました（ニュアンス訳）
（わざわざしてくれなくてもよかったのに）
・You didn’t have to go out of your way to tell me how bad dinner was.
夕食がひどかったなんてわざわざ言わなくてもいいでしょう。
