① get to the bottom of の意味
・「〜の真相を突き止める」
bottom[ˈbädəm]の意味は「底」ですが、ここでは「(物事の)根底」や「原因」を意味します。
get to 〜 の意味は「〜に達する」。
get to the bottom of 〜 は、問題の原因に達するイメージです。→「〜の真相を突き止める」そして of の後には内容となる部分が入ります。
